Washing Cloth Wipes

Hi ladies!

 

I have recently began trying out CDs on my 2 y/o in preparation of our new baby coming this summer and I LOVE them! We especially love our cloth wipes, they work much better for us than disposable wipes and are gentler on DD's skin. We also use them to wipe her hands sometimes when they are especially messy. Of course we use a new wipe each time.

 

I was talking to my mom about this today and she said, "Well, I hope you are bleaching those or not using them anywhere else!"  and I hadn't really thought about that being necessary. We just wash them with our cloth diapers. Cold rinse, hot wash with Charlie's soap, another additional cold rinse and then into the drier. I didn't think it was safe to use bleach anyway. Is it unsanitary to wash the wipes and then use them to wipe her hands or face next time? Is there something else I should be doing? I hadn't even thought about it...

I just throw them in with my diapers---

Cold rinse & spin, extra rinse

hot wash, extra rinse

cold rinse & spin, extra rinse

I think they're fine after 3 washes...they don't smell or look funky...

I'm a clean freak but think that we over sanitize in our society...I feel like bleach would be worse.

I just throw them in with my diapers.  Then I use them for everything including wiping faces and as nursing rags.  I'm not worried about them being dirty.  If they're still dirty after my wash cycle, then so are my diapers and I need to adjust my wash cycle.

NOT UNSANITARY, imo.

 tink about it (not to hard...) the towel you use when you shower...you know that gets fecal particulate on it when you dry...right?  do you bleach it every ime?  or your underwear?

I just toss them in the pail and they get washed with the diapers.

I have an HE FL and ridiculously hard water. anddddddddd I'm too paranoid to switch it up because I don't want stink! lol
