I listed 20 people for the invite list, all women, friends that I have talked to in the past year and some family members, like moms, grandmas and aunts. My friend is hosting a tea party at her home. I am very excited about how it turns out! She loves to entertain!
I am just curious... How many people are coming to your baby showers?
I am having a total of 12-14 guests, so overall it's a pretty small gathering.
Though to you may seem like a small gathering, I think that's the perfect size. Mine had about 15 people. It's not too many people to be overwhelming to socialize/talk to everyone, plus opening the gifts.
At my DH family shower 14; at my family shower maybe 7 at the most. Almost wondering if I should just not worry about it and pass since it will be so small
If the house ain't burned down and the baby's fed it was a successful day.

It seems a bit small to me, since my cousin had over 50 people at her baby shower, but I tend to prefer smaller gatherings anyway. It's true that at these smaller gatherings, you can more meaningfully interact with all of the guests personally.
My first one was a bit crazy from work so there were over 150 people. I didn't really care for the size but had no choice. My second will have about 25 and my third will be about 12. I'm looking forward to the small one the most!

There are just over 20 people on my guest list. We don't have much family in the area though, and I'm only inviting people that I'm close to. I just don't want my friends that are hosting to have to put on some great big "to-do". I think it'll be fun to have an intimate affair.
Invites are going out to about 70 people, but the majority are family, and some long distance, so realistically probably only about 20-30 people will be able to come. At least I'm hoping so, it could be less than that, depending on people's schedules.
Re: Baby Shower Size?
1st shower was co-ed, 30 people
2nd shower is a girls bunch, 28 adults and my sister's two little ones
3rd shower is girls afternoon thing, not sure...probably 10-15
4th shower no idea
No idea about MIL's shower. She invited the members of her church and her side of the family.
My mom's shower is probably around 20-30 people.
Work is throwing me a shower as well with probably 15ish people.
