My son slept 6 hours!

I panicked when I woke up and ran to the nursery to see if he was breathing. OMG I guess he woke up three times and my husband gave him a paci and he went back to bed. I feel guilty that he may have been legit hungry and he was tricked into sleeping, but excited that he can make it 6 hours.

My DD woke up three times last night 1, 5 and 7:15. The 5 am feed she nursed for 6 minutes. Now I can pump 2-3 oz in six minutes so it's possible she ate that much (who knows), the paci trick doesn't work for her. Do I just keep feeding her and she'll eventually grow out of this feed on her own?

I can try shortening the feed, but it's already so short that I feel like I should just let her eat.

  • My kids would never take the paci if they were hungry so it sounds like he may be able to go the six hours for you!

Whenever one would wake up I always tried the paci first.  If that didn't work I would feed them.  I always had Emily wake up for feeds and Erica would sleep right through.  I don't have any advice because I always felt like I was guessing when it came to waking the other up to feed.  If the time was close to when Erica would typically wake up I would feed her along with Emily otherwise I would just wait for Erica to wake up on her own.  Some nights it worked out real well.  Other nights I was irritated because it felt like I was up all night feeding babies.  This phase did pass fairly quickly.  By 7 weeks my girls were both going 7 hours before waking up to eat.

  • I did the same thing the first night my twins slept for 6 hours straight. Even  though they were sleeping, I wasn't! I kept getting up to check on them too.
