walking areas around hoover?

We just moved here and live across the street from the galleria.  We found veterans park today and love it but it's quite far just for walking.  Our apartment complex doesn't believe in sidewalks hence the reason for needing a place to walk.

Another place is Star Lake-it's a little area with a sidewalk and ducks/geese in a neighborhood.  It's by the Hoover Country Club.

You're also not far from Aldridge Gardens (it's off Lorna Road) - that will be really nice in a few weeks when everything starts to bloom.  And I believe admission is free.

I can't believe I forgot to mention this, too! (it's where I got married). And yes, it's free. It's really pretty, even though everything isn't blooming just yet.
