Prune juice help needed!

Poor LO is so constipated. I started adding 1T of prune juice to his 4oz bottles yesterday and still no poopies! How long until the prune juice starts working?? Am I using the right ammt? Is there a daily limit I shld be following? Please help!

Did your pedi recommend the prune juice? He/she would be able to help you gauge quantity better. I was under the impression that prune juice wasn't to be given until at least 6 months which is why I'm asking.

Is LO formula or breast fed?  If formula fed I think you're supposed to increase water to help with constipation.  It's rare for a breastfed baby to be constipated, although our little guy was because of the iron in my prenatal.  Check with your Ped.

My pedi recommended prune juice to our little guy at a month daily.  It was 1 ounce of prune juice and an ounce of water.  My son would not drink it so I put 1 ounce of prune juice and 2 ounces of breast milk to dilute the taste.  He now will drink the bottle with no problems. 

I was told this was not a quick fix pooping issues. Also, it was made clear adding prune juice to his diet for pooping/gas issues was not an introduction to juice.  GL

Our pedi recommended diluted apple juice.  1oz water to 1oz apple juice.  She said we could do it  up to twice a day.  I would give about 1oz total of the diluted apple juice and it seemed to help.

My pediatrician also recommended prune juice to help with constipation, it worked within 72 hours.
