Dry skin/rash on sons cheeks?

He has dry spots that look like a rash on both cheek bones, I think it happens when he sleeps if he spits up and his cheek is laying on the wet spot.  I tried putting a little lotion on it but it just makes it redder, any suggestions??

  • Vaseline before the nap... it'll moisturize and act as a barrier to the wet spots if that is what's happening. Plus it's totally safe for newborns.

  • I would leave it alone or use olive oil. Many doctors do not recommend lotion for babies. Lotions can mess with the skin's natural ability to produce moisture and/or contain drying ingredients (which means you buy more lotion) or simply irritate baby's new, sensitive skin.
