I just want to say thanks to all the people who bought DS a stuffed animal. And especially the people who found out we were having a jungle themed nursery & decided to buy him a monkey. DS now has half a dozen monkeys, and a couple dozen stuffed animals. They take up over half his crib! And MIL & FIL are the worst about it. Every time they come around, they seem to have a new stuffed animal for him.
Is it wrong of me to want to stuff the next person who brings one around? i'm seriously considering giving a lot of them away to charity.
And now I feel bad for every time that I bought a stuffed animal for someone's baby. I contributed to a massive pile of junk!
Re: Just a stuffie rant
Sorry to say, but stuffed animals come with the territory, ESPECIALLY if you're having any kind of animal-themed nursery! Just donate the excess ones. There are plenty of kids in hospitals who would love a stuffed monkey or lion to keep them company.
Oh, and just FYI, don't put stuffed animals in your baby's crib. (unless he's not even sleeping there yet and it's just for decoration) Serious suffocation hazard.
Since MIL isn't the one who has to keep these things around HER house, I think you have every right to donate them. If she says anything, just remind her that having things in unnecessary excess is called "HOARDING" and that there are needy children in the world who would love (and who sometimes need) a stuffed animal.
Better in the hands of a needy child than on the shelves collecting dust in your closet.
Also, DH needs to tell your ILs to knock it off with the stuffed animals, or, the next time they bring one over, just walk your MIL over to the closet, show her the collection that's already in there, and tell her to please not bring any more over.
thanks
I just need to also convince my DH that DS has enough stuffed animals. I tried telling him that I'm planning on starting to donate/give away anymore that come in & he got upset & acted like I'd be depriving our child of something. He also said it was rude to give away stuff that people buy for DS. Ugh. DS is only 3 months old & already has dozens of stuffies, and enough toys to last him til he's 2!
