Need your thoughts on Pampers Drymax (clicky)

Hi all!

Need your advice... Pampers seem to fit LO's body better than Huggies - when she's in Huggies, there's always a gap at the back of her legs where poop comes out, regardless of the size of diaper (she's in 2's now).

We got a package of Pampers Sensitive from a shower and I loved the way they fit her, but I am too nervous to try regular Pampers Swaddlers because of the horror stories I've heard about the Drymax causing chemical burn type diaper rashes and smelling like chemicals. However, I know there are plenty of people out there still using the Drymax diapers without problem.

So, what should I do?

Some other notes... I don't like the feel of the Pampers Baby Dry, I'd like to buy the diapers in bulk from Amazon so I'm hesitant to try a random brand, I would buy Pampers Sensitive, but the picture on Amazon has the drymax logo on it.

  • I didn't want to take a chance with the Dry Max either, so I use the Pampers Sensitive without the Dry Max.  I bought them in bulk from diapers.com.

  • They sell swaddlers sensitive pampers w/o drymax or babydry - can you try to find those?

I haven't tried huggies, I'm about to try swaddlers w/babydry (my mom picked us up a box of 2's) so I can't offer any advice. I've only used w/o drymax or babydry so far.

  • Maybe try a small pack of the Swaddlers with Dry Max?  If you're absolutely against it, that's one thing, but if you're just hesitant, it might be worth it to grab a small package somewhere just to try them out.

  • The Sensitive Swaddlers have no dry max up to size 2. It starts with size 3.

We were given a case of dry max swaddlers that I was hesitant to open in case DS couldn't wear them so I purchased a smaller pack to try. I just watched to see if he reacted and he didn't so now I know we can use them if need be. Unfortunately, I'm very sensitive to the smell of them, so I will probably stick with Baby Dry once he hits size 3.

  • LOVE, LOVE, LOVE Drymax...they were the only diaper that works well on DS.  Huggies would always leave absorbent balls on him

  • I understand being hesitant, but don't think it is worth dealing with poop leaking! That would drive me nuts.

We use Dry Max and they work very well, with no skin issues. And we have never had a blowout, period! I am impressed with how absorbent they are without leaking.

  • I used the Swaddlers with DS and loved them. I found a store near me that sold the swaddlers without dry max and I bought a bunch of them for DD. Once she out grows that size 1's then we will be switching over the regular pampers baby dry diapers.

  • ::lurking:

DD had a horrible reaction to drymax so I will avoid it with this one.  I did find this retailer on amazon selling swaddlers without drymax

    https://www.amazon.com/Pampers-Swaddlers-Newborn-240-Diapers/dp/B0019QB1P2/ref=sr_1_7?ie=UTF8&qid=1298668689&sr=8-7

When I got it I noticed the package said "for hospital use" I found it interesting the hospitals are not allowing dry max even though pampers is saying there is nothing wrong with it????

  • I had a few packs of both and thought I would like the Huggies better, boy was I wrong. I LOVE the Pampers DryMax and, after we are out of the Huggies, I will buy them again. We have had no problems at all and I love that they pull everything away from his skin so he isn't sitting in a pool of poop. Try them and just watch.

  • I found the NB size Swaddlers w/o the DryMax at Big Lots! You might try there if you really want to avoid it.

  • DS didn't get any kind of chemical rash from the drymax (he was only in diapers a short time after the drymax was started) but I just didn't like them,  The diaper would feel wet on the outside every time he peed, and they just didn't seem to work as well.  So for DS #2, I'm trying different kinds... I haven't tried the Huggies yet, but have tried BRU brand and Luvs, and so far Luvs are my favorite!  You can get them through Amazon Mom and they're SO much cheaper than Pampers!  So far they are the only ones he hasn't leaked through at night!
  • I would try a small package first; but I think you can find it without the drymax.

Don't use Huggies they left absorbent balls all over DS every time he had a wet diaper.
