DH wants to put the house on the market

We haven't even been here a year. The neighborhood isn't what we thought it would be and he just really wants to build a house.

I guess I am okay with it as long as I get a pantry and a double oven. Also, his gma isn't going to move in with us. We'll see how long before it actually goes up.

Is there any chance your house has actually appreciated in value in the last year?  I'm not sure if the laws have changed but when I sold my house 6 years ago, you had to live in a house for three years to avoid capital gains tax.  If you lived in it under three years, the IRS looks at it as investment income and you pay a lot of taxes on the gain.

I would kill him also.  

I have ZERO plans of moving in the next 16 years.  Unless we hit the lotto and move to be Bubbly's neighbor.  And we pay a moving company to do every bit of the work.

not unless you buy a house greater or equal to in value.  If you sell a house and don't buy anything else then you pay a captial gains tax.

It took us over a year to sell our old place. We would have to pay back the tax credit, which bugs me. We would also have to move into an apt. while the house is built. He basically wants to break even on the house. We need to finish our bathroom and paint the half bath downstairs.

Uh no, Jodi - we will not move to MI.

I am having to pay back that tax credit.  It makes me cry.    I would not do so voluntarily.

Ha! We actually thought about building in Mi when DH worked in Monroe. I would never give up my Buckeye allegiance
