Anyone have this happen? I am 13 weeks and spotting for 10 days. The Dr. says I have a low lying placenta and it puts pressure on the cervix which can cause bleeding. It is so unnerving to be spotting for over a week!!!
I have not had spotting for that long but at begining of preg i started having some spotting that stopped and dr said it was a small hemorhage (sp?) in my stomach then around 16 weeks I had heavy bleeding after intercourse and dr said I have a very sensitive cervix and can not have sex until after baby is here. I know it can be hard when one of the things you look foward to with preg is no period and you are still bleeding.
I have low lying placenta as well-- haven't had much spotting in awhile (hopefully followup scan will show it has moved up)- but they were SHOCKED I hadn't had more, which makes me think it's normal.
Keep your feet up and your hips as well-- think "couch" position as much as you can.

I had a low lying placenta at my 19 week ultrasound but have had NO spotting at all the entire pregnancy and I hope I never do. Although the condition is normal I know that if you bleed heavy there could be major complications. You could also have to go on bed rest if you keep bleeding. Im really hoping mine moves soon. It's also preventing me from feeling much movement.
I had a lot of spotting and a lot of heavy bleeding from weeks 12-17 due to my low lying placenta (placenta previa because it started out as complete)
The spotting has stopped and my placenta is on its way up and should be completely out of the way by the time I deliver. It just sucks being on pelvic rest for so long.
Its totally normal with a low lying placenta. Just take it easy, no heavy lifting, drink a lot of fluids and no sex (or anything else that causes uterine contractions, ya dig?)

I had spotting and 3 heavy gushes of blood from week 5 to week 13. Then it just stopped completely and I haven't had any since (knock on wood). My placenta is still low-lying, but I am just glad the bleeding stopped.
I went to the ER at 11 weeks for heavy bleeding. My placenta was low lying and I spotted almost constantly until 18 weeks or so. At my last u/s it had cleared up completely. It drove me crazy to be spotting all the time, but it worked out fine.
I have a low lying placenta (a week ago they told me it was a partial placenta previa) and they said at this time the worst to expect was spotting after sex. since there are SO many veins in the placenta if it is low it is super easy for spotting to happen. I wouldn't worry to much about it, as long as it is just a small amount.
