We just witnessed the power of a good swaddle last night, so now I'm curious if I should be doing it for naps during the day too? If you swaddle, when do you do it?
We usually only swaddle at night. He's been swaddled for a couple of daytime naps, but usually only when he's overtired and we're having trouble getting him to go to sleep. Otherwise we're trying to keep a distinct difference between daytime and nighttime, and one of the ways we're doing that is by swaddling at night.
Sometimes. Right now, I'm trying to do one good nap a day at home in her bed (older DD is in daycare so drop off and pick up interfere with other nap times). So once a day, I swaddle, white noise, and try to get her to nap in her crib; otherwise, she's on the go or in my arms and not swaddled.
"Hello, babies. Welcome to Earth. It's hot in the summer and cold in the winter. It's round and wet and crowded. At the outside, babies, you've got about a hundred years here. There's only one rule that I know of, babies. God damn it, you've got to be kind."

I swaddle for all naps. I don't find that it is confusing her on daytime and nightime. I have read that around 6 weeks a baby will learn the difference between night and day due to circadian rhythms. I just find that without swaddling she'll sleep 10 min. and with swaddling sometimes she'll take a 4 hour nap. She really needs to sleep so I figure it can't hurt.
We swaddle arms in for night bedtime and arms out for naptime. Our babies got so used to being swaddled all the time in the NICU that they get pretty fussy unswaddled.

We swaddle for all naps and for nighttime. We've never had a problem with day/night confusion. When he was really little, we always made sure lights were on in the house and it was darker at night, not sure if that made a difference.
We swaddle every time he sleeps. There have been times when he falls asleep without it during the day, but he doesn't stay asleep very long and he'll get overtired.
At this point, he has his days/night worked out-so even swaddled, his daytime naps are naturally just shorter stints than his sleep at night.

Of COURSE we swaddle in the daytime too!!!! Why wouldn't you? Why teach your LO two ways to fall asleep? There are other ways to distinguish between day and night.

This is what we're doing too.
