Baby Names

Myla Christine?

I want a different name.  My husband and I fell in love with Mila (but thought it was pronounced Myla so we thought we'd change the spelling to make it easier).  I want a name that's easy to spell and easy to pronounce correctly.  Would you say this name how it is spelled?

Re: Myla Christine?

  • I love the name, but I think either spelling would work. I's and y's are so interchangeable I am sure someone would get it wrong eventually either way. Beautiful name though!

  • I would have pronouced Mila Mee-la.  If you want in pronounced My-la , stick with the y

  • I would pronounce Myla my-la

    Mila: mee-la

  • Well, my name is Nila, and it's pronouced Ny-la. I sometimes get Neela, but I also get Nilla (maybe thanks to the wafer cookies). I always like the i over the y, but of course I'm biased.

Perhaps this frame of mind is the culprit of all the unnecessary use of y's in place of i's.

A recent offender that made me shudder: Karsyn. Ick!
