We are planning to get a passport for LO. My gma, who is in the Philippines, has been sick on and off. God forbid something happens, we want to have LO's passport ready in case we need to travel unexpectedly. DH had LO's passport photo taken at Cotsco yesterday. I thought it was cute that he had to hold her up while she's having her photo taken lol. DH said the people there were helping have LO lok at the camera lol. LO looked like she had a baby mug shot hehe.
Anyway, my question is, do you know if we need to bring the baby to the Post Office when we submit her passport application? I know DH and I both have to be present to sign the application. Just not sure if LO needs to be with us. We're thinking it will be easier for the both of us to go to PO when LO is in daycare next week.
Thanks!
Re: ? re passport for LO
I don't know the answer to your qs, but I suggest you go early in the week. I read this morning that passport applications wouldn't be processed (one of the many govt services that would shut down) if we pass the March 4th deadline with the continuing resolution.
We went in with LO to get his. Step 2 here said that the minor AND *both* parents must be present:

Other tips:
- Bring a checkbook (I brought a check pre-written with the right amt and they wanted it split up into 2 separate checks but they were closing so I had to come back another day and that was annoying). Also helps if they reject your photos (they were uber-picky and rejected ours because they said the light was too harsh on one side of his face vs the other) b/c most facilities have photo-taking services too.
- We went on a Monday at around 10am to avoid the morning & lunch crowds. There was still a line but short (like 2 parties ahead of us).
- I did the application online first so it fills out the forms for you and all you have to do is print it out and bring it in so it's faster (but DON'T sign it until you get there--you have to do it in their presence).
- Bring her original certified birth certificate (I had to go in person to our county office to get that separately beforehand). They don't take copies. I scanned a hi-res copy of it for myself to have a record of at home just in case I didn't get it returned to me. They will end up sending the passport and birth certificate back to you separately so don't freak out when you get the passport first with no sign of the birth cert (I almost did) =P
- Bring photocopies of your IDs for them to keep.
Whatever else I might've missed here is also in that link I pasted above.
GL!
