Iron

Yesterday I went for my glucose test and they also checked my iron.  Got a call back today, thankfully my glucose was fine but I am low iron and need to be on iron supplements.  I am not happy about this.  I knwo that the iron pills made my sister extremely constipated, not looking forward to that.  Crossing my fingers that the pills balance me off instead since I am just the opposite of constipated now!

Re: Iron

  • I'm anemic and my doctor gave me specific iron pills.

The Slow FE brand (at Target) are supposed to be better about not causing constipation.

  • I have been having to take iron pills since I found out I was pregnant. My Dr. prescribed them to me. They make me constipated. So I started taking Colace.

Esma: I'll turn him into a flea. A harmless little flea. Then Ill put that flea in a box. And put that box inside another box. Mail that box to myself. And when it arrives. ILL SMASH IT WITH A HAMMER. Its brilliant, brilliant, brilliant I tell you. Genius I say.
Or to save on postage. Ill poison him with this.
  • Sorry to hear you are slightly anemic..I know your pain.I have been on iron supplements since the beginning of my pregnancy.  Just make sure you are eating a lot of fiber and drinking your water!  And my MW said that if need be I could get an over the counter stool softener to help with constipation!
So excited for our little blessing:)

That was what they told me to get.  Hopefully it will hold true and constipation wont' be as much of an issue.

  • Make sure you're getting lots of fiber and water and you'll be fine. It may take a week or two for your body to adjust.

This is the exact one my OB told me to get as well, I have been on them for almost 2 weeks now and no constipation.  I was anemic with DD as well, apparently it is a common thing to have. You can take colace to help balance the constipation as well.
