constipated :(

Ok, this question was probably answered a million times a tri or two ago, but I just can't go poop.  I pooed yesterday, so it's not like it's been long, but all day today I can't go.  I mean I just sat on the toilet for 30 minutes, trying to relax and read a magazine.... and I'm scared to push too hard because I have hemmies :(  I'm drinking lots of fluids, but I just have the feeling I have to poop and can't get it out!!

 

I'm uncomfortable.

  • That sucks. I'm sorry. Whenever I haven't gone in a few days, I'll eat an entire crown of steamed broccoli and have a cup of black coffee...

  • I was tempted earlier to make a post about finally pooping after 4 days of nothing. What got me going is some prunes! I keep a box on hand of "sweet ones" and I had 2 yesterday and 4 of them today and it worked! Warm prune juice works as well.

    p.s. I see your in Grand Rapids,  that's my hometown and I miss it.

    Really a banana will make me go at anytime, but when it's all I have in my stomach, it's less then two hours between eating and pooping.

    I also eat two pieces of fruit a day and try to walk a few times a week. This seems to keep me regular.

  • Ditto on the prune juice. Even Benefiber and Colace didn't do it for me, but 8oz of prune juice before bed guaranteed a morning "constitutional"!

    My go to is always an apple. I have one a day- every day! Sometimes two.

    Then I mix between bananas and grapefruits(peeled, not cut up with sugar), grapes, oranges, and pears.

  • No amount of fruit will make me go. My doctor OK'd Colace and Miralax, so I have about 2 Colace a week and Miralax 4-5 times. I poo maybe once a week on that. My Zofran really keeps things backed up. = (
  • I have been taking colace.

    The only thing worse than being constipated is being constipated with an 18 month old in the bathroom with you!

  • Colace here too.  My doctor told me to take as much as necessary (within reason of course).

    The bump guide says not to use suppositories in third tri because it can stimulate labor.  Is this not true??

  • pooping has been my main source of thought and discussion since on bedrest.  apparently i was so backed up a few weeks ago ...doc said it was "shawdowing my u/s" Embarrassed.  i have now been on a "strict routine" to stay regular (because not going has been causing contractions for me).

    what i have found that "works" is colace - 1 everday.

    3 prunes before every meal

    metamucil 3x a day.
