Do cheaper diapers work?

So DD is 9 weeks old and I've been using huggies on her ever since she was born.  I just used my last huggie coupon last week so I bought Luvs.  My SIL always used them.  They are a better price.

Well I was shocked when I pulled one out of the package.....it was so thin and paperlike....huggies is so soft and quilted.  And I hate the smell of the Luvs.

So anyone else use Luvs?  Are they good?  I guess i'd probably have to get use to the feel after awhile.

  • I have pampers and the walmart brand (parents choice) they are almost the same. The target brand is decent, but doesn't hold up overnight.

  • I haven't tried Luvs but I see packs of them in the consignment shop frequently so it seems others don't always love them. I get Pampers from Amazon using subscribe and save and coupons so they're a great price but we also like the Target brand. They're not as soft but they get the job done for the price.

  • I use Pampers.  I tried the Babies R Us and Parents Choice brands, but I hated them both.  They are so stiff and plasticy.
  • I bought a pack of the Parent's Choice diapers as backup in case we run out, and decided to give them a test drive... they're okay; a little thin for my tastes but leak-wise, they held up decently. I would hate to see them through a poop-blowout, but they did fine with just pee.

  • I personally really like the Target brand, but I HATE Parent's Choice or White Cloud. Luvs can be okay, but I don't prefer them.

The Costco brand is pretty good too. For the price, they're very decent. But I HATE Parent's choice.

  • I thought the same thing you did when I first pulled one out - that they are so thin.  BUT I LOVE THEM.  So far they work awesome with my son and I love the price.  I buy them from Amazon and get the huge box for $18.
  • I thought the same thing about LUVS, but in the end they are my fav. We have tried several. Huggies Lil' Snugglers leaked bad, but the Huggie snug and dry work great. Target brand gave her BAD rash. Pampers are pricey. Luvs have really held up to her blow outs too!

  • I've used Luvs and had no problems.  DS leaked every time we used Huggies though.  We are now using Target Up & Up brand and love them.  He is sleeping for about 5 hours at a time now at night and we've yet to have a problem (knock on wood).

  • I've tried everything with my son, and Luvs work the best.  Better than the pricier brands.  So far they work great with my daughter, too.

  • We got lots of different diapers as gifts so we tried them all-huggies, pampers, up & up, luvs, and 7th generation.  Now that we've run out of the ones we received for gifts we decided to buy Luvs.  We thought they worked just as well as the others and I get them really cheap through Amazon.  The outside does have more of a papery feel, but they work great.
  • We have tried all the brands cause my mom bought us a small pack of newborn/sz 1 in each brand to learn what works and doesn't work... We absolutely LOVE Luv's and Parent's Choice!! They work great for C

  • We have used luvs, pampers & huggies..& I don't really have a favorite b/c they all worked great with Conner..I will probably start buying luvs b/c they are cheapier & I didn't have a problem with them even tho they feel weirder (more paperlike not quilted) but they held up good!!

  • I had always used Pampers with DS #1, but DS #2 leaked right through them and I was changing his outfit every 2 hours!  So far we've also tried BRU brand (leaked through those too) and the last couple of nights I've used Luvs and his clothes have stayed dry every time!!

I have some Huggies to try, and Target when he gets into size 1, but so far the Luvs have been the best!
