activity mats/ floor gyms

What age did your LO start interacting and enjoying the floor gyms? I think my DS likes his, but doesn't quite have the skills yet to grab for anything, but he is only 5 weeks. Mainly he looks and wiggles, but no crying for a good 10-15 minutes before he wants to get picked up again!

It's several weeks from now that they'll start actually batting at objects. They typically discover their hands around 8-10 weeks i believe, and then quickly discover that those hands can make things move. For now let your LO lay on the mat & look & wriggle around. Helps develop his vision & motor skills. Pretty soon he'll be batting them around

Ours starting batting at the toys around four weeks, nothing really intense, but definitely reaching out and batting, but she got bored/fussy after about five minutes. Now she's fine under there for about ten minutes at a time.

My DS lays there and stares, talks, smiles and coos at his toys, but he's not reaching out yet.  He bats a toy every now and then, but it's only because his arms and legs are going a million miles a minute while he's down there.

She really started liking it around 5 weeks. Now at almost 7 she yells and smiles at her animals.

He just recently started showing an interest in the animals & waving his arms/kicking his legs.  He's managed to grab a few of the animals.
