Babies: 3 - 6 Months

Spit up, go away!!!

The past week DD is spitting up like its her job. I can't figure out why it's happening so often. She just spit up what looked liked an entire meal, and she ate like 2 hours ago. WTH?? It usually happens when she is munching on her fingers and doesn't seem like she is in pain at all. Does this sound normal? Its soooo annoying :(

  • Our pedi told us that between 4-6 months is when it is the heaviest. After 6 months it should go down some. We deal with it as well. We use bibs 24/7.

Then I guess this makes sense....she's 5 months. Ugh. I feel bad for her but she seems totally fine. It's her clothes and my clothes that I feel worse for haha.

That's good to hear because it's been on my list of questions to ask the pediatrician next week! It sometimes seems as though P is vomiting up everything he consumes!

I know! Sometimes I feel like I need to feed her again bc the spit up just flows right out of her mouth! Icky!

Yes it seems like SO much at times. DD never seems too bothered by it. Our pedi said as long as she is a "happy spitter" than we should be ok. Happy spitter meaning she doesn't fuss when lying down (as if it is bothering her), and she doesn't cry after spitting up. She said a tablespoon can be completely normal. Spill a tablespoon of liquid on your counter to compare. It doesn't sound like much, but really that is a lot compared to how tiny they are!

  • If she's chewing on her fingers she might be gagging herself accidentally.  My DS does this all the time.

This is really good to know. It seemed like it had subsided a bit, but now its back full force. She isnt in pain at all, but we go through spit rags and clothes like no ones business.
