Need Some Formula Help Ladies

DS started on Similac Advance and lead to diarrhea and too harsh on him.  Switched to Similac Sensitive, lead to constipation.  Went on Enfamil Gentlease, gave him terrible diarrhea.  Now back on Similac Sensitive.  Not sure I want him  on this, since he was constipated on it.  All these switches were made with the direction of my pedi.  Why would my pedi put him back on a formula that constipated him last week and not try something else? Does anyone have any similar situations of the formula that didn't work one week, worked the next or can you suggest another formula for me to suggest to my pedi and see if I should try that one? Thanks for all your help and sorry if I am rambling, seriously sleep deprived and so frustrated and feel so bad for my little man.

  • I guess because constipation is better than diarrhea? I'd just watch him so he doesn't get impacted.

  • DS got constipated on most formulas...we put him on gentlease and he had really soft/mushy stools.  Not sure if that's what your referring to as diarrhea or not.  Could you keep him on the sensitive formula and give him prune juice to help with constipation?

  • I have heard positive thins about enfamil lipil and gerber gentle plus the one with the green labal (I dont know what the differences are between green orange etc.) I hope somthin works for you!
  • My pediatrician suggested putting a small amount of Karo Syrup in the bottles to regulate bowels, you can check with your pediatrician about doing this as well?

i heard good things about this two formulas as well and am wondering why my dr did not suggest one.  hopefully the sensitive works for him and i don't have to switch again, but i will keep these two in  mind.

his poops were very, very watery.  it was mushy at first at just keep getting worse and worse the longer he was on the enfamil.

thanks for the tips about the karo syrup, i will ask my pedi.

  • We had constipation issues using Similac as well. Pedi told us to try Gerber Goodstart and that's been much better.
