s/o glucose tests

my doc has not mentioned having this done at all.  if it was not for this board, i would not even question it.  as far as i know my urine, blood work and everything else has given no indication of any issues - but will i have this anyway.  anyone else not have this mentioned by the doc?

Re: s/o glucose tests

  • Both DH and I have a family history of diabetes.  Is it a non-issue in your medical history?  Maybe that's why it wasn't mentioned (in conjunction with your regular testing not showing any abnormalities).

  • When is your next appointment? Maybe it is scheduled and they just forgot to mention is.
  • My doc mentioned that I would be taking mine at the next appointment (28 weeks). Perhaps your doc will be giving you your test around that time too.

  • My OB didn't recommend this test until 28 weeks, 27 at the earliest. For my practice it is standard to do this test.

  • I'm pretty sure everyone has to do this. I haven't had any other problems with bloodwork/urine either.

  • my next appointment is March 7 - so I will be about 27.5 weeks. Maybe they will mention it then, i will be sure to ask if they dont.  I have no history of diabetes on my side

  • my next appt is March 3rd. I am guessing she will mention it then. I will be about 26-27ish weeks.
  • my appointment today was the first time my dr has mentioned it.

I'm doing it next month (at 27.5 weeks). He said I didn't need to do anything special, that I could eat breakfast like normal, he only mentioned it so I would know that I'm going to have to stay for an hour.

This. I asked my midwife if it was something everyone does or if I was just doing because of other results or because I'm over weight. She said it was standard procedure.

  • I just did mine today....it was the yummy orange drink. I took a book to read so I wouldn't get bored in my hour wait. I hope I get a good result!

They'll probably mention it then. My doctor mentioned it for the first time at my appointment last week.
