Finally taking nice naps, but I fear creating a bad habit

DD was having a tough time sleeping in her swing (10-20 mins naps), I then tried her crib and that would take about 45 minutes to even get her to fall asleep, then she would only sleep for about 20-30 mins (even thought she STTN in her crib at night). But now I have been letting her sleep in her carseat and this is the 2nd day in a row where she has slept 2 hours for each nap.

I'm just worried about when she is too big for me to swing her in it or for her to even fit in it. Should I attempt to transition her into her crib again or let her keep napping in her carseat and deal with that issue once she outgrows it? TIA!

  • Personally, I would keep working on the crib.  She's getting pretty old to be napping in other places like the swing or carseat.  I know it's nice to get the long naps but I think it's going to get harder and harder to transition her the longer you wait.

  • I'd suggest reading a book that was  HUGE help to me. It's called The Baby Whisperer Solves All Your Problems (by teaching you to ask the right questions) and it helped me immensely with my DD's sleep problems. She'll sleep in her crib now when before the only time she'd sleep for more than 10 mins is in my arms.

  • Can you put the carseat in the crib after she is asleep?  Maybe then she will get used to waking up there after her naps.  I'm a big fan of doing whatever works.  My DD napped in her swing up until about 6 months and then I switched her to her crib and she did great.  DS hates sleeping and napped just as well in his crib as anywhere else so that is where he sleeps.
