I'm getting started on daycare research, and while I know this is a bit of a nitpicky question, I'm wondering how your daycare heats up bottles with breastmilk? I've read that it isn't good to heat up bm in a microwave, and I also never microwave plastic and we'll probably have the plastic born free bottles. But I feel like that's probably the easiest option for daycares to heat them up. If I were to ask about this or make a special request, would it really be out of the norm of what they do? I want to be selective, but also don't want to be the overly neurotic parent.

Bottles should never be warmed in the microwave, breastmilk or formula. Microwaves heat unevenly and this can cause hot spots in bottles which can burn baby.
So I'd be very wary of any daycare that uses microwaves. Are you looking at centers or in home? None of the centers I looked at used microwaves! Ours heats them up in warm tap water. They use jugs and fill with the water, they have seperate ones for BM and formula.
My kids have been in 2 daycare centers (we switched once) and both used a crock pot.
They run her bags of milk under warm water. Or they will heat up water in the microwave and then let the milk sit in the bowl of water until warm.
Also from what I have heard, at least at my day care, they are not allowed to heat up any bottle in the microwave. Even formula. It can cause hot spots and the baby could get burnt so it is against regulations.
