At what age...

did you start taking your LO to the zoo, aquarium, etc.?

Re: At what age...

  • First zoo visit was at 2 weeks, but we didn't see any animals.  In fact she slept yhroughthrough her zoo visits until 4 months or so.  Aquarium was at about 6 months.  We go to the zoo at least twice a month, but DD doesn't get to see much since everything is so far away.  She loves to crawl around in Zoomazium though!

  • We took her to the aquarium for her 1st birthday. Haven't been to the zoo yet. If we lived closer I'd definitely buy a pass and go a lot! I'm sure we'll go this year when it gets a little warmer! :)

  • We took DD to the zoo for the first time last Saturday. I thought about taking her sooner but we never really had a chance. I plan on taking her more often now. And I'm planning on the aquarium very soon. She seemed to enjoy it. Especially the otters because they were close enough for her to watch them
  • Carter's first zoo trip was at 3 months. We have been numerous times since and he loves it! We received a pass as a gift and love it. We have yet to go to the aquarium yet, my H wanted to wait until he was a little bit bigger. We have been trying to find a weekend to take him now that he is walking all over the place and is interested in everything.

  • First trip to the zoo was at 3 mos. and was more for me than her.  :)  We took her to the aquarium at 6 mos. and she had a blast!  She played with the penguins through the glass for a good 20 mins, it was so cute.

She got a membership to the Woodland Park Zoo for her b-day, so we'll be going there a lot more once it warms up.

  • Ella's first zoo trip was 7 months, the aquarium was almost a year.

  • First trip to the Pt. Defiance was at 6 months. She really liked the aquarium stuff better than the animals, easier to see I think.

We went to Woodland park a few weeks ago, and DD was kind of into it, but mostly annoyed at being confined to the Ergo/stroller. Once she's a better walker, I bet she'll love it!

  • The first time we took him to the zoo he was 8 mo old, he was a little into it, but was more into watching the people.  It was my mother's day present :)

The second time was on his 1st birthday, he was more into it, but again really liked watching people.

As soon as it warms up we will go again, I love going to the zoo.  I also can't wait to take him to NW Trek.

  • DD was 18 months or so but thats because there were no zoos or aquariums near us in Delaware- all an hour or two away.

I cant wait to take DD to the zoo and all that here- so LO will be going to all that a  lot younger than DD did.

I love living somewhere interesting and fun!

  • Aquarium was a huge hit at 4mo on.  The zoo we started going at around 1 year but it wasn't until recently that he really enjoyed the zoo.

  • Emma was three and a half months old. It was right before we moved from Everett to Eugene and I freaked out about all the thinks I wasn't going to get to do with her not living there all the time. :-) I think it was all the nerves, haha. I insisted we go to the zoo and she really didn't care about any of it.

The aquarium wasn't until she was about 18 months. We spent probably three hours there because she was so into it. :-)

  • I think you can take them at any age!  At a younger age, it's a change of pace, as they get older, they will interact with their surroundings more and more. :)

  • First zoo visit was at 10 months. We took him to the Seattle Center (up into the Space Needle, Children's Museum, etc.) at one month because we had family in town. Aquarium was 6 months, I think, but again with family.

  • I don't remember when we first took him but I don't think he actually cared about going to eitehr place til at least 18 months.

  • I'm pretty sure we took Isa to the aquarium for the first time around one. The zoo around six months or so? Now we go to both pretty frequently. Passes for presents are a beautiful thing!!

  • We took M to the zoo last weekend. I can't say that she really cared either way to be there, aside from flirting with random strangers who would coo at her she was more content to chew on her fingers than anything. ;)

I think she'll really like the aquarium here in the next few months. She already loves to sit in her high chair at home in front of our fish tank and watch our fish swim around.

  • I think we took her at one month old, but only because we have an older daughter. She really didn't get into the zoo till she was around 9 months.
  • She got a Zoo membership up here in Alaska for her first birthday and we go fairly regularly (though not as often in the winter) and she's really enjoyed it. I'm not sure she would've shown much interest any earlier than that though.
