Cloth Diapering

Cloth Diaper Trial

I've heard of programs where you can try out several different types of cloth diapers for a period of time then send back the ones you don't want. Has anyone used one and been happy with it? Are there multiple places where you can do that? Which one is the best? Do I need to sign up before LO gets here?

Re: Cloth Diaper Trial

  • We are just finishing up our trial through www.jilliansdrawers.com and we've really enjoyed it. There are other websites that also offer trials but this one came highly recommended to me so I didn't even look into other options.
  • I use nickisdiapers.com and all their cloth diapers can be used and returned within 15 days if you don't like them.  You get site credit for the returns, not cash back, but you get credit for the full price you paid for them.  It's a pretty good system I think, but it's the only one I've used.

If I recall correctly, jilliansdrawers.com has a program that you can get one of a few different types and try them out. I've never used it before though.

There are others out there but all I've seen have a time limit so it wouldn't be a good idea to purchase before LO comes because you'll run out of time.  If you want to do a trial, your best bet might be to use disposables (alternately you can get one of the cloth diapers that has disposable insert options) because newborn poop stains badly and order the trial after a while.  For newborns, you might want to stay away from the one-size diapers at first because they are very bulky on little babies.  We had DS in small prefolds and covers for the first 4 months or so before switching to a one-size that was still bulky on him but worked better than at first.

    Hope that helps.

We are just finishing up our trial as well. I highly recommend jillians drawers trial. They send a lot of different type of diapers to try out an you can decide what you like. I'm so happy we did it. DH liked it too. For instance, he has determined he has a preference for snaps and neither of us really like prefolds. I think every baby and family is different so it's great to try out a bunch of different types. Good luck!
