UG!! Yeast Infection (Edited)

So I think I have another yeast infection!! It's a vicious cycle - I have a UTI I take the anti-biotics and end up with a YI.

Has anyone of you had a YI during pregnancy? What did you take for it? I have a call into the doctor and am waiting to hear back. Last time she gave me an oral pill to take once that was safe but I have reservations about taking it to many times. Has anyone just used Monistat or something similar?

(Edit): OK - so I just heard back from my doctor and she's giving me Diflucan for the 2nd time.
It did work the first time (8 weeks and a round of Anti-biotics ago), but I took it with reservations, she assures me that in this small a dose it's safe to take. Has anyone else been put on Diflucan. I trust my doctor, but taking anything makes me nervous.

  • I did early on and the dr recommended the Monistat 3 or 7 day, the 1 day is too strong.

  • Not sure what you take for it, but my sister had 4 UTI/YI's during her last pregnancy and she had to take medication each time. Her baby turned out perfectly fine. Medicine freaks me out sometimes too, but I just try to remember that it's probably worse to stress the baby while you're sick instead of just taking the medicine! Hope you feel better soon!!

  • I had one a few weeks back.  When I called the doctor, the nurse told me to use Monistat too, but the 7 Day.

  • My doctor told me NOT to take an oral med for it, but to do a 3 or 7 day treatment of the vaginal suppositories.

I used a 3-day, and it worked just fine for me, but apparently when pregnant they can be stubborn, and the longer the course, the more effective it will be.

  • I took diflucan during my early 2nd trimester, and so far everything has been fine. But I took mine for a bacterial infection, but I think since your doctor knows your pregnant and knows what you have going on down there -- you should be fine taking it.
