Re: ??? Weekly Check-in ???
(2) How are you feeling? Any new milestones or news in the last week to share? Henry is sooooooo close to crawling! He gets up on his hands a knees and rocks/bounces. This happened all of a sudden in the last week. He can actually push backward pretty well this way, but no forward movement yet. Soon, maybe!
(3) Next appointment date? Any big ultrasounds/other exciting stuff coming up? Not until April
(4) What's been your greatest BR challenge this past week? It's actually been a wonderful week! He's STTN the past two nights (first time he's done it twice in a row!). I had my ILs visiting last weekend, and we had a nice time, too. We went shopping and spent a fortune at Buy Buy Baby, though! We got 5 safety gates (we live in a 4-level split-level and have 3 staircases
(5) What was (or will be) the first thing you bought for the baby? Oddly enough, a Beaba Babycook. I had gotten a big WIlliams-Sonoma GC for Christmas that year (I was 9 weeks pg at the time), and I was baby-crazy! All I could think of that I wanted from that store at the time was the Beaba, so I got it. I actually hid it from MH for a few weeks, though. I thought he might think I was nuts buying baby stuff already! Other than that, we wanted to wait until we knew the gender. When we found of were were having a boy, we immediately (I really mean immediately....on the way home from the ultrasound!) stopped at Target and I bought a blue puppy-dog outfit, and MH bought a soft baseball, glove, tiny mitt, basketball, soccer ball, and football! Boys!
(6) What's the next milestone you're most looking forward to experiencing? I'm both excited and nervous for the crawling to start. I'm scared of him being so mobile, but excited, too!
(7) How old was LO when you first started leaving the house with him/her? Where did you go? At about one week old we started going for walks just in the neighborhood and park every day. Other than that (and other than doctor's appts), our first big outing was to the zoo at 6 weeks old. He slept through most of it, but it was so wonderful for me to get out of the house into the sunshine! I waited until after 6 weeks to take him shopping to Target and grocery stores, too.
SO jealous LIndsay that you are going to HI! Have a GREAT time!
(1) What week are you in/how old is your LO? 34w3d
(2) How are you feeling? Any new milestones or news in the last week to share? Sluggish these days. I have my good and bad. LO is dropping and I feel all the pressure now anytime I walk or even roll over in bed, its stinks! Can't ever get comfy now, but it's been a great pregnancy so far...I guess I'm due for some pain now huh?
(3) Next appointment date? Any big ultrasounds/other exciting stuff coming up? I go for my bi-monthly appt next week and then another u/s the week after since I'm measuring big. Nothing too eventful. I am dreading my Group B Strep test though. My dr. hasn't said anything about it to me, but I'm assuming it's done at my 36wk appt? I keep looking out for tools everytime I walk in the room because it's the last thing I want to have done!!!
(4) What's been your greatest BR challenge this past week? Walking without feeling pressure in my lower belly
(5) What was (or will be) the first thing you bought for the baby? I think the first thing we purchased was the bedroom furniture for LO and I love it
(6) What's the next milestone you're most looking forward to experiencing? Holding LO in my arms!!!!!!! I'm not looking foward to birth, frankly I'm terrified of the WHOLE thing but I can't wait to see his little face staring at me
(7) How old was LO when you first started leaving the house with him/her? Where did you go? Hahahaha, I posted about this last night about possibly taking LO to HI when he is 4-6 weeks old. I have decided to not go to HI and take LO, I don't want to risk him getting sick and being so far away from home...maybe later.
(8) What other questions would you like to see in upcoming check-ins? Did anyone take birthing classes and did you think they were worth it? I bailed out on mine because I didn't want to watch birthing videos that I could find on YouTube. The chairs you had to sit in for 3 hours were torture!!!!
All I got out of it was a tour of the hospital that I'm glad we were there for.

OMG...I'm not complaining about our -9C nights during winter any more!
(1) What week are you in/how old is your LO? 10 months - we're getting close to a year old!
(2) How are you feeling? Any new milestones or news in the last week to share? They are so, soooooo close to walking. They walk along objects, and if they're standing at their Leapfrog table and push it a bit, they can scoot it along the ground and walk behind it (we don't really have room for a push walker, but I bet they'd enjoy it).
(3) Next appointment date? Any big ultrasounds/other exciting stuff coming up? Mid march, to get their tongue ties snipped.
(4) What's been your greatest BR challenge this past week? The pre-walking. They fall and hit their heads so much...I know it's all part of the developmental process, but it's awful to hear that BUMP*cry*.
(5) What was (or will be) the first thing you bought for the baby? LOL I'm trying to remember! It wasn't anything exciting, I know that... Oh, it was the changing table. I bought it used from a coworker - I think I was about 4 months pregnant?
(6) What's the next milestone you're most looking forward to experiencing? Hmm. I guess walking? Or true talking, maybe. They say the occasional word but I think it will be exciting when they can really express themselves.
(7) How old was LO when you first started leaving the house with him/her? Where did you go? Ummm...right away, pretty much. I think they were like a week and a half old the first time we went to the store with them. They weren't preemies and it wasn't flu season, so we didn't worry about it (although if anyone reached for them we swiftly asked them to please not touch).
(8) What other questions would you like to see in upcoming check-ins? What are your five favorite baby websites (any kind - blogs, forums, shopping, developmental info, etc.)?
(1) What week are you in/how old is your LO? 17wks,3d
(2) How are you feeling? Any new milestones or news in the last week to share? Feeling good. Tired from all this travel... takes a lot more out of you when you're KU, I guess? I *think* I really felt the baby move recently. It felt like bubbles and twirling. It happened in the same place a few times within a couple minutes and it wasn't gas. Others are, of course, wary but I'm pretty sure it was it... we'll see.
(3) Next appointment date? Any big ultrasounds/other exciting stuff coming up? Monthly March 1, and another big one (3D) 3 weeks after that.
(4) What's been your greatest BR challenge this past week? Discovering that I can no longer curl up into a ball on the airplane seats to sleep! It was terrible.
(5) What was (or will be) the first thing you bought for the baby? Hah. Bumbo off CL for $5 (in perfect condition too).
(6) What's the next milestone you're most looking forward to experiencing? REALLY feeling my little dude move.
(1) What week are you in/how old is your LO?
13 months tomorrow
(2) How are you feeling? Any new milestones or news in the last week to share?
She's walking now more than crawling...so amazing that in one month she's made the cross-over. She's also talking up a storm...water, up, car, broom, pig, blanket, blue...so fun! She's also been with a babysitter three days this week (my mom is out of town) so it's been a milestone for ALL of us...we've never had to do the whole get ready together/drop-off/pick-up rigamarole before!
(3) Next appointment date? Any big ultrasounds/other exciting stuff coming up?
15th month pedi appt. in May
(4) What's been your greatest BR challenge this past week?
Food strike...she's not eating much and barely even taking my milk while I am at work. Not sure if it's due to being in a new situation (aforementioned babysitter) or teething or what. Her molars are right under the gums now and she's drooling like crazy and chewing on everything!
(5) What was (or will be) the first thing you bought for the baby?
Three gender neutral burp cloths that were on sale at Target.
(6) What's the next milestone you're most looking forward to experiencing?
Her saying "I love you" oh and STTN for more than 5 hours!
(7) How old was LO when you first started leaving the house with him/her? Where did you go?
10 days old I took her grocery shopping. She was in the Moby-style wrap. At two weeks old we took her to lunch at a sushi place.
(8) What other questions would you like to see in upcoming check-ins?
TTCers: Which cycle are you on? Where in the cycle are you? What, if anything, are you doing/trying for TTC success? Charting PPAF#2...
TTC/PG Blog | Mommy Blog
Bella has gone through a number of food strikes. It's hard to remember at the end of the day, it's not what she ate that day, it's added up over time... Eventually she pick up and make up for what she didn't eat. Bella goes through this every once in awhile and there seems to be no rhyme or reason for why or when it happens.
I know it's not the check in question yet, but...pick my diaper bag (Skip Hop Studio)!!! LOL I know I rave about it a lot, but it is really and truly fantastic!
I have a Storksak and LOVE it. However, I'm thinking about going another direction and getting a stylish dslr camera bag instead... I guess I feel like I don't need as much stuff as I used to carry around. I might be wrong. We'll see!

(1) What week are you in/how old is your LO? 15.5 months
(2) Any new milestones or news in the last week to share? he's learning to say please in sign language and using it pretty frequently! It's been so nice! Although now he says please when he's asking for anything, and I'm not always sure what he's asking for, lol We also went to the pool at the hotel my parents stay at when they were here last weekend and he got reacclimated to the pool and loved it again
(3) Next appointment date? Any big ultrasounds/other exciting stuff coming up? We just had his 15 mon appt this week - I was concerned that he hasn't even gained 1lb since his 12 month appt, but the dr said since he's walking full time now, that's expected. I had my first mammo done the other day, and it didn't hurt at all. I was shocked and expected it to be a much worse experience. They wanted me to get a baseline one done, and now I don't have to get another one until I'm 40.
(4) What's been your greatest BR challenge this past week? last night it was sleep - he kept screaming - he went down at 9:30 (pretty typical) and woke up screaming at 11:30 - got him some motrin by 12 and then some mylicon at 12:15, b/c he seemed to have gas. Not sure what was wrong, but he didn't go back to sleep until 3:30 and woke up at 7. So I am exhausted today! I feel not quite like I did when he was a newborn, but almost! I can't even think straight today! I keep going to do stuff and I can't remember what it was.
(5) What was (or will be) the first thing you bought for the baby? that's a good question, I have no idea. I know my mom bought stuff way before we did, but I think we waited until after the shower to buy anything ourselves.
(6) What's the next milestone you're most looking forward to experiencing? climbing into the car seat himself and using some words
(7) How old was LO when you first started leaving the house with him/her? Where did you go? we barely left the house his first 2 months b/c we were in H1N1 scare around here, so except for dr's appts and going to ACMoore (b/c MH had to get stuff for his class) on a random Tuesday night, we stayed in with him.
(1) What week are you in/how old is your LO? 9 months next week
(2) How are you feeling? Any new milestones or news in the last week to share? He is taking steps unassisted.
(3) Next appointment date? Any big ultrasounds/other exciting stuff coming up? next week is his 9 mon check up & shots
(4) What's been your greatest BR challenge this past week? baby proofing because he is into everything
(5) What was (or will be) the first thing you bought for the baby? I can't remember but I know we bought him a collegate sleeper for christmas when I was only about 13 weeks
(6) What's the next milestone you're most looking forward to experiencing? him really being able to walk so we can go outside to play
(7) How old was LO when you first started leaving the house with him/her? Where did you go? we went to walmart the day after we came home b/c I needed to get out after being stuck in the hospital for 4 days and it was like 100 F when we came home so we couldn't spend time on the porch or anything
if I recall correctly, I think it was like having a pap smear done?
Yup, that's pretty much what mine was like - speculum and a swab, no biggie.
For mine they didn't use a speculum. She just swabbed the outer area of my labia and the outer area of my butt (awkward but not terrible). I wasn't sure what to expect but it wasn't bad at all.
(1) What week are you in/how old is your LO?
she's almost 15.5 months old now
(2) How are you feeling? Any new milestones or news in the last week to share?
the big thing this week is she learned how to say "Jaime" and how to say "Brent" :P I don't think she understands the significance of it but the sitter had been working on it w/her and today I finally got her to say both
now we'll see if she can make the correlation.... though of course I want her to call me "mama" and not Jaime LOL
so the cutest thing - and I don't know how/where she learned this...but when we were PR a lot of people would honk and when she would hear another car honk, she'd say "beep beep!" so funny! she also started this thing where she is sitting in her car seat and lifts her legs up and kicks the seat back (since her car seat is still rear facing) and when she does so, she says "boom!" so, now she associates kicking her legs with the word boom and will also do it while I am holding her, and also on the changing table LOL (making it really hard to get that diaper on her!)
she's been walking just fine up until now but has recently discovered how to walk on her tippy toes so I'll catch her doing that from time to time.
she'll now hold the phone up to ears while she is playing with it and occasionally if you ask her "what do you say when you pick up the phone?" she answers "hola!" LOL the babysitter taught her that one :P
new words: (english) PJs, buckle, bird, cereal, pear, straw, heavy, tuck in (when I tuck her in at night!); (vietnamese) bird, bread; (spanish) uno, ocho
(3) Next appointment date? Any big ultrasounds/other exciting stuff coming up?
she doesn't have another appt until her 18 month shots
(4) What's been your greatest BR challenge this past week?
she's started having bad separation anxiety again. i can't leave her sight most of the time and sometimes she refuses to be put down and insists on me carrying her. in general she's been getting pretty upset during my departures again
she doesn't always cry when i leave but sometimes she goes on food strike b/c she is mad and the only way the sitter can get her to eat is to bribe her with grapes or raisins. once she calms down and starts eating then she'll eat other things. i'm hoping she grows out of this soon b/c i don't want her to be too attached to me.
(5) What was (or will be) the first thing you bought for the baby?
is it sad that i don't even remember now?
(6) What's the next milestone you're most looking forward to experiencing?
her being fully potty trained and getting out of diapers!
(7) How old was LO when you first started leaving the house with him/her? Where did you go?
she went on some errands w/us when she was a newborn (just kept her in the infant carrier/car seat. we didn't take her out a lot though b/c it was flu season and i was still recovering from my c/s
