Painful/Numb Hands after c-section?

Hi ladies,

I'm one week post partum and am having the strangest feeling in my hands.  They are literally painful and have a constant tingling sensation.  It is present all day but it significantly more strong when I wake up in the mornings.  Sometimes it feels like I am going to drop whatever I'm holding b/c I'll get a shooting pain, and that's obviously not good for when I'm holding LO.  Has this happened to anyone else?  I'm going to call my OB's office this morning.  Thanks!

Re: Painful/Numb Hands after c-section?

  • I have the same thing, I don't think it has anything to do with a c-section though.  My OB said it could be a couple of things, carpal tunnel (common) or your body adjusting to less blood being pumped through.  I would still check with your doctor though.

  • I had that throughout pregnancy and then a few weeks PP. It went away on its own. My MW said that it is carpal tunnel

  • I had a lot of pain and swelling in my hands.  This started two months post partum.  It turned out to be from post partum thyroiditis.
