Those using crib wedge for reflux - question.....

We are transitioning our DS from the swing to the crib and he has been doing pretty well.  We bought a crib wedge to keep him at a slight incline still.

Last night though I woke to him screaming because he had somehow gotten a bit sideways and rolled down the wedge.

How are you preventing roll-aways from happening?

  • We use the crib wedge in the PNP and A scoots herself off of it all the time. I try to lay her more toward the bottom of the incline and she doesn't scoot as much. She will completely flip sideways sometimes though and luckily has ended up pretty straight when she does it (vs being smooshed up against the side). If I swaddle her then I keep her arms out but we've been using those sleep bags lately. I like having her arms free incase she does scoot herself against the side.

  • I know this sounds odd, but we use the shelf liner grippy stuff. It works!

Haha, sounds funny, but that's a good idea.

  • What we did is made our own sling.  If you look up Tucker Sling you'll get the idea.  We took a swaddle me blanket and safety pinned the pouch part to the crib sheet (we folded the top half under) so we just slide her legs into the pouch and she stays put.
  • Have you considered putting something under the mattress instead? These crib wedges and positioners have been recalled and/or not recommended anymore due to these slipping issues you're having.

Babies can slip or get wedged and can suffocate.

I'm not sure about the PPs, but we have a pillow under our mattress to elevate it and I think a lot of the wedges also go under the mattress, but the baby still moves and slides down if not held in place.
