I don't think they grow back together, so... once? Or maybe if it wasn't done fully the first time it could be done again. It just separates the sac from the walls of the uterus.

Midwife said she didn't pull any punches. She spent a while in there....I lost my mucous plug and had (and continue to have but its getting older obviously) a lot of blood post sweep. (sorry if TMI)
Sommer how pregnant are you?? I feel like you're around 45 weeks at this point!
GL - I hope it is any minute now for you!!
Wheee!

With DD, I went 12 days over but never got stripped and had a stuck cervix...they had to yank it forward 12 hours into ACTIVE labor (what an esteem kick in the teeth....12 hours of contrax 2 mins apart just to get checked and be told ZERO PROGRESS and "just go home and sleep now that we yanked it forward" which was more painful than delivery).
I had mine stripped 2 times about 2 days apart. Then, I went to my NP who was taught to do it by a midwife years ago. She told me if I don't bleed or cry, it wasn't done correctly. I told her to get the party started. I didn't cry, bled a tiny bit...and my water broke in the hallway once I got up.
