just noticed a rash on my stomach this evening. Not sure what would have caused it. Is this something to be concerned/call doc about? Does anyone else have this?
I have read that some rashes are common during pregnancy (like PUPPP) so unless it's only confined to one side of your body and painful (like shingles would be) I would just mention it at the next appointment. If it is only on one side, painful, blistering or in any other way resembles shingles, I would let the doc know sooner.
I had one a few weeks ago. I tried using cocoa butter and had a bad reaction to it. The doctor told me to take a benadryl and it cleared up the next day. Apparently you can develop allergies to things while pregnant even if you didn't have it prepregnancy.
I had a rash show up around 14w (I'm pregnant w/twins, so I think the hormones are just magnified). Anyways, on the phone with the OB nurse she said it sounded like PUPPS, and recommended Aveeno lotion and said I could take Benadryl at night.
I used more lotion than in my entire life and it was still super itchy, all down my sides and breasts. I had tried Benadryl one night and it didn't help. Then I went in for my 16w appt with the OB and she said to take 2 Benadryl for 3 nights b/c it needed to have time to beat whatever was aggrevating my skin. Low and behold after 2 nights of 2 pills I was 90% better and took the 3rd night for good measure.
I have not had a problem since and it's all cleared up, Just thought I would point out that you might need more than one dose/night of the Benadryl to help!

I think it is too early for you to have PUPP; however, I had it with my DD and it was like red itchy bumps on my belly and the only thing that would make it go away was delivery. I would ask your doc when you saw them if it persists, but if it would be PUPP they could not do anything about it besides tell you to use some cream for relief.
