I'm just trying to remind myself that all of these women all seem to have come in with very different preferences than mine. And that drama sells tv so that is what they are going to show.
I'm just watching the first show now on Hulu. Ya, this may have to be a show where I save up all the junk mail during the week so I can ball it up and throw it at the tv.
(Aah, memories! My college roommate and I used to do that while watching Temptation Island)
Mrs_b - I'm just frustrated at the "Why wouldn't you get an epidural?! Are you crazy?!" sort of attitude the show is taking as well as the lack of (IMO) informed consent before doing some of these procedures. They aren't discussing these interventions with the patients, they are just doing them (or if there are discussions, they are edited out). "Ok, we're need to use the vacuum" or "Ok, we're going to need to do a c-section"
It just bugs me. However I will fully admit that I am not objective when it comes to this subject.

Oh yea. I couldn't watch that show.
I had to endure a brutal conversation the other night with a MAN who thinks anyone that goes natural is off their rocker.
Right. Because the last time HE gave birth, he got the epi.
Yeah, I find myself giving a running critique thoughout the whole show to my DH.
I hate how it portrays that women should be flat on their back and completely immobile and then they wonder why labor stalls out or the woman can't deal with the pain without moving, trying new positions, etc.
It's pretty frustrating to watch.
"If you find a mate in life, you should be loyal. In your case, grateful."
SAHM to two sweet girls, both born at home; Baby #3 in 2013!

You said it far better than I was trying to.
We're really trying hard for a med-free birth this time around. And I will admit, I only experienced a portion of med-free labor. But I really feel like that was because I was on pitocin and therefore labelled a "fall risk" and not able to move around It sucked.
Re: So I'm watching One Born Every Minute...

::eyeroll::
Oh and another thing?
A bunch of these women have guests who are chowing down in front of them. I would kill someone. Seriously, kill.

I just want to take a bite of all of you.

Mmmm, granola.
This was one of my biggest pet peeves as an L&D nurse. Fukcing obnoxious.
