If you've been prescribed Aygestin...

how big was your cyst, what dosage did you take and how long did it take for your cyst to disappear?

I have a 6cm cyst and was prescribed 10 mgs Aygestin for 14 days...I'm on day five but am definitely aware of the cyst (maybe moreso - but its probably mostly mental) and I'm afraid its not getting smaller.........

TTC since May 2009 - DOR (ovarian cancer) DE w RBA December 2011 - transferred one embryo 12/14 - three frosties Beta #1 - 129 (12/22) Beta #2 - ? (12/26)

Re: If you've been prescribed Aygestin...

  • I'm not sure how large my cyst was.  But, I had it for several weeks and it kept growing before they put me on aygestin.  I was on 2 pills a day for 2 weeks and it was about half the size of when I started taking it.  They had me get a refill and keep taking it.  I will go back on Monday to get it checked again.  They said I can stop the aygestin when it gets below 15.

ETA - Have you had s/e from the aygestin?  I have been having more cramps and a hard time sleeping.  I hope your cyst shrinks soon.

No real s/e other than a little cramping and maybe a little bloating...my RE said not to exercise, lift anything heavy, and to be careful moving/twisting/etc.  Its been a major PITA...

Must be something in the midwest water, huh?  Ugh.  Hope yours keeps shrinking!!

  • i've been on Aygestin but not for cysts.  my RE uses it to bring on a period during a long lupron IVF if no BCP was used.

Aygestin can cause cramping, bloating, stomach upset....feelings you could be having that could be masking the fact that your cyst may be getting smaller.   I hope that's the case.  GOOD LUCK
