How long did it take you to notice a difference?
My doctor thinks LO might have a milk allergy due to increased spit up and really red, rash-y, patchy skin.
His skin's been bad for a month or more, but I've been going on the assumption that it is really bad winter dry skin. The spit up is more recent. He was spitting up really bad for a couple weeks at around 2 months and then just started up again a week or so ago.
We started the nutramigen yesterday, but he's still been spitting up. A couple hours ago it was projectile for the first time, ever.
Just wondering about others' experiences. TIA
Re: If you've switched to Nutramigen
My ds hated the taste of the Nutramigen. He is breastfed mostly, but we suppliment sometimes when I'm at work. I messaged Enfamil, about a sample and told them my pedi didn't carry samples of it and that money was tight, so I couldn't afford to buy a container and just throw it away if he didn't like it. They very generously sent me 2 containers of it. I believe they are 12oz tubs of power. I unfortunatly only made maybe 3 feedings out of the one container, and I'll probably have to pitch it because he won't drink it. However, I have another one that is unopened, if you PM me your address I will send it to you. I'd hate to have it go to waste.
Done! Thank you so much. The nutramigen smells awful, doesn't it...like old nasty canned potatoes.
And thank you everyone else for responding. I figured I would have to try for at least a week-- hopefully it makes a difference.
LOL DH is similar about shots--LO has already seen my face when he's getting stabbed by the nurse so DH doesn't think LO should associate him with shots as well because only one of us needs to be the bad guy. Silly men.

From the symptoms you?ve described (like rash and projectile vomiting) it definitely sounds like your LO could have a milk protein allergy. When switching formulas it typically takes at least a full 2 weeks before you to see a change in your LO. But, if you don?t see a change after 2 weeks it?s possible that your DS could be having difficulty breaking down the milk proteins in Nutramigen. If that is the case I would recommend talking to your ped about switching to an elemental formula, like Neocate or Elecare. Elemental formulas are 100% hypoallergenic because they don?t contain any milk protein chains; instead they are made up of individual amino acids (the building blocks of protein). This makes elemental formulas the safest and easiest formula for LOs with allergies to digest,
For what it's worthy, my LO has food allergies/intolerances to milk, soy, egg and tomato... I went on an elimination diet when he was 7 wks old (I'm BFing) and it took about a month for him to be symptom free.
HOpe that helps!
