Daycare question

I am going to start TTC soon and have a question about daycare costs. I have been looking at our fiances and working on budgets but wanted to try to get a relatisic estimate of daycare costs in the area. Any estimates you can give would help. I obviously want somewhere with great care and attention to my future little one.

Thanks

Re: Daycare question

  • If you plan on putting an infant in a quality center full-time I would expect to pay between $900-1300 per month.

  • I agree with PP. I am in the Dayton area and the best daycares run $850-$1000 a month. We have DD in a very nice daycare and her infant rate at the time was $872 a month. I believe it's closer to $900 a month now.

If you go the in-home route instead, you can expect to pay around $500-$700 a month, I would say.

This, and maybe a little more than that. When I looked in 2008 I found everything from $180/week to $350/week. We landed somewhere in the middle. It's definitely true that you get what you pay for. I would visit centers at a variety of price levels within your budget.

  • When I did my research in 2010, I found daycare centers in the Mason area to be around $180-$260 for 5 days per week.
