Accidentally posted this on the July '11 board! Whoops! Let's try this again...
I had my 1 hour glucose test on Tuesday and just got a call that I was JUST over (My Dr. told me that at my hospital the cutoff is 135, but at a lot of other hospitals the cutoff is 140. My number was 141) So I have to go for the 3 hour test.
I'm definitely dreading being there for that long...
Anyway, my question is, how many of you (either this time around, or with previous pregnancies) failed the 1 hour test, but did okay on the 3 hour? The only risk factor I have for gestational diabetes is the fact that my grandmother is a diabetic. I'm 23 years old and have never been overweight or anything like that. I generally eat pretty well (except for those times I just can't help but give into my junky cravings), I exercise and have always exercises (I'm a former professional ballet dancer. I'm now a ballet teacher. And in addition to teaching I take yoga and cardio/strength training classes for pregnant women) I guess I'm just looking for a little reassurance.
This is my first baby and I'm nervous about what my test results will be...
Re: Glucose test?
I hope we both get good results!
Update:
Got home a little while ago from the 3 hour test. It was going okay, but then I almost passed out.
It's happened before. My body/mind doesn't really tolerate getting blood taken very well, and they took a whole lot of blood today. It ended up being okay though because after I almost passed out sitting in the waiting room they let me go lie down in the back of the lab. So for the last hour and a half I was able to just lie down and read in peace and quiet.
My doctor says he will call if I fail the test, but if I don't hear from him, that I can assume I passed just fine. (It's a military hospital... they're pretty big on the 'no news is good news' thing. lol) So I'm just praying my phone doesn't ring
