We didn't register for one, because we were told by a family member they had a gently used one they were giving us. Lo is 5 weeks old, and we still haven't received it. I thought we would buy one if they didn't give it to us, but now I don't see the point. She sleeps in a bassinet at night, and during the day we have the swing and a couple bouncers for her to sit in. What else do you use your PnP for?
Re: What do you use your PnP for?
Ours has the infant napper attachment so we use that alot during the day. It also has the changing station so we change all diapers there.
When she outgrows the napper part we'll just have her nap in the bassinet part of the PnP and use it as a play pen when she's bigger so she can play and I can still do dishes and run to the restroom without worrying about her saddling up one of the dogs and riding away.
We will bring it with us to someone's house who we know will not have a crib or PnP already. Also, when we go camping this summer we will bring it with then too. Pretty much wherever we go for a longer period of time when LO will need to be sleeping or contained for any reason.
You can always find them on craigslist for dirt cheap too if you do not want to buy new.
I agree with the PP's and I also use mine as a safe place for him to chill out away from my older kids. My four year old dd likes to be a little mommy and she can't really reach him in there. I am sure that if she climbed up on my bed, she could but they aren't allowed in my room. But that is the one place I feel safe putting him down and not have to keep eyes on him 100% of the time.
We have the music feature on ours and Xander loves to lay in there and look at the patterns on the side, look at the mobile and listen to the tunes. Last night, he was laying there for over an hour awake, alert, quiet and happy. I got dinner done and got to eat with my older two without a baby in my arms or sitting on the couch with him while they eat. We are going to try for that again tonight.
This.
Ours is in the living room and we used it for the first 3 weeks for all of his daytime naps (and sometimes we used the changer). After 3 weeks we realized that DS tended to sleep better in the swing or in his room where it was darker, quieter, etc. He always slept there at night anyways. So now it's being used as the place my cats like to jump into to nap - until they are chased out with a spray bottle
We still don't really use the changer that much - his nursery is on the same floor so I usually just take him to his room.
We'll be using it this weekend though and in 2 weeks for overnight trips.

It's great if you have to stay overnight somewhere. It makes a very portable crib, and ours has a changing station attached. I plan on using it outside in the spring, so that when I garden LO can be outside as well.
We haven't used it yet.
With DS1 we used it when he became more mobile and we needed him out of trouble when making dinner, etc. And we used it as a crib when traveling overnight or as a crib for other people's children who are here and need to sleep. (like when we have friends over for game night, they don't have to leave at bed time. Nice!)
