Babies: 0 - 3 Months

DD cries when we are not holding her...............

My DD is 10 weeks old and always wants to be held!  I need some advise/tips to help get her out of this.  We can put her down for maybe a couple of minutes before she starts crying.  If she does fall asleep and we put her down she wakes up.  Thank you!

  • most people will probably say to invest in a carrier or sling so you can carry her around. I know it's frustrating - sorry! People refer to the first 3 months as the "4th trimester" - where babies always want to be held and be close to you, like they were the first 3 trimesters. You're almost there Smile

  • She was "held" by you for 9 months.  Some babies have a harder time transitioning into the big world.  My first sure did!  I wish I would have known more about slings/ babywearing then as I think it would have helped us all out a lot!  As for sleeping, use anything at your disposal- swing, bouncy seat, etc.  I ended up bedsharing because it was the *only* way I could get any sleep at all.  You can transition out of "habits" later- right now you both need sleep, so make that happen however you need to!
  • My son was like this.  Since I had read that for the first 6 months they don't have wants, only needs, I just went ahead and gave him what he needed.  I would baby wear him so I could get stuff done, but now at 2.5 he's well adjusted and isn't overly needy.

  • This could be a growth spurt. Is LO eating more than often? It goes away, but then you deal with seperation anxiety and them being frightened of strangers, haha.
