Freaking out a little

DH and I live in NC right now we are moving to NJ in May so i'll be around 35 weeks. We cant move up sooner and cant move up later we have to move up then (DH's job). So i called an Obgyn that was recommend to me and my insurance covers. So i called them today to find out what i need to do to get everything switched to them and any information i should know. Well the lady on the phone said they probably wont be able to accept me. Are you kidding me? i'll be 600 miles away from my original doctor i obviously need a new doctor and your telling me just because im 35 weeks you wont except me, i will have all the previous doctors notes and all the information they need. Now im freaking out because i dont know what im going to do. The lady said she had to have someone else give me a call back.. What am i going to do if they cant accept me i'll be almost ready to pop.. so im freaking out now!

That sucks! Surely there are doctors out there understanding of such a situation. Will you be going up that way anytime before moving when you could possibly schedule an appointment with them before 35 weeks so you're not technically a new patient? Hope you get something figured out, I'm sure you will!

i told them im coming up in 2 weeks and asked if i could make an appt and they told me no because you cant see two providers at once. i told the lady i dont have any other options i have to find a doctor because i obviously need one.

WTF is their reasoning for not accepting you?????!!!! That is ridiculous. 

Are there any other providers near there?

Oh boy.  Where in NJ will you be?  I am in Central NJ.  Much as you want to go with the recommendation you have, get a list of in network OBs in the new area.  Call a bunch and see what they say.  I think you'll be able to find someone.  Have you discussed with your current OB?  Maybe their office can make a call on your behalf?  They may take the referral doctor to doctor better than from the patient. 

I switched OBs during my first pregnancy.  I guess the only concern is taking it on so late and they probably have concerns since they haven't been involved but at labor and delivery, they would be liable if something went wrong.  You can see as many doctors as you like, but you'd probably have to pay out of pocket for the visit in two weeks.  Perhaps you should also call your insurance co to get their advise?

If they don't accept you, find someone else that will. There must more than just that one Dr in the area.  Go to the local New Jersey Bump board. I'm sure girls there will have recs for you.

Also, mention it to your current Dr and see what she says.

Glad to hear it worked out! I am in NJ also, and was going to recommend posting on the NJ nest board. It's pretty active. If you are having questions about where to move, those girls can help also.
