Enfamil Gentlease Vs. Similac Sensitive

LO has had gas problems. We switched her formula from Similac Advanced and she has been on Similac Sensitive since she was about 4wks old.

She's still having gas issues, even with Mylicon. Pedi said to try a different brand of formula. She recommended Enfamil Gentlease or Good Start. I was going to try out the Enfamil, since I have a sample can on hand.

Has anyone made the switch? Did you notice a difference?

I made a batch and it is definitely less bubbly than the Similac, but I also noticed that it doesn't seem to mix very well. There are little chunks of formula floating at the top and also on the bottom.

Re: Enfamil Gentlease Vs. Similac Sensitive

  • this is EXACTLY what we did. LO was having terrible gas on the similac sensitive so we switched to gentlease....he still has some gas, but WAY less than before...you're right about the mixing though...gross right? the only thing that fixed it for us was mixing it up in the dr. brown's formula mixing pitcher. that thing is awesome. also, when you switch, make sure to give it a couple of days....their bodies have to get used to it. we were almost through a whole tub of gentlease before i really noticed an improvement. GL!

  • DD was worse on it...most babies have lactose problems that lead to gas, spit up, and fussiness. Similac Sensitive is 100% lactose free whereas Enfamil Gentlease they reduced the lactose to 1/5...but it's still there!

  • When I had my first child, he was quite gassy. We switched to a soy formula and it worked wonders. Just something to keep in mind!

     Good Luck!

  • We switch our LO from similac sensitive to Enfamil gentlease today and have already seen a difference, on similac when he would spit up it would come up curdled like it was curdling really fast in his stomach and upsetting his stomach, his gas improved a little on similac, mind you, but we switched to gentlease and his spit up looks more normal, here's hoping he has less painful gas, too.
