Louisiana Babies

question

Good morning ladies! I live in Monroe but see a doctor at Woman's Hosp in BR (long history and story) and I have a question about appointments. Do any of you see an OB there and if so, at what appointment did you see/hear the heartbeat or have your first u/s?

Just curious about your experiences there. I have called my nurse there to ask these questions but am waiting for a return call so I thought I would ask y'all while I wait! TIA

Re: question

  • I see Dr. Cheree at Woman's.  My first u/s (& first appt) was at 8 weeks.  We were able to see the heartbeat then.

I have to ask...are you planning on delivering at Woman's?  I can only assume you're having a scheduled c/s since there is no fathomable way you will be able to wait till you go into labor if you live 7 hours away.

  • I love it there! Monroe is only about 3.5 hours away from BR and we agreed to see him until about 24 weeks then I would make my decision about my next move. He said he would deliver me if I wanted him to but he would require I be much closer 2 weeks prior to my due date or we could discuss an induction date a week before my due date. DH and I are on the fence given my history so we decided to make the decision a little later in my pregnancy.

  • I see Sarah Davis at Woman's and we had our 1st appt at 7 weeks and she made us come back at 8 for the U/S where we heard the HB and saw her.  It was her nurses mistake for scheduling our appt before the 8th week.  She wasn't there after our first visit either haha
  • Both my middle sister and I see Dr. Sharon Lee and my youngest sister sees Dr. Wendy Holden-Parker at Womans. When my middle sister was pregnant with my niece, Dr. Lee did the heartbeat at 10 weeks, if i remember correctly. I'm at about 6-7 weeks so i figure I'll hear mine around mid-April.
  • I see Brown on the 5th floor... I have a 5 year old dd that was a high risk pregnancy. I spent 2 weeks in the hospital after delivering her and your Dr. can make all the difference in the world. I completely understand you driving almost 4 hours. You should check into some of the extended stay hotels in BR also there are some that will give you a great deal if you let them know what's going on. Especially if it's not a busy time for them anyway.

*Dr. Brown did an ultrasound at 8 weeks and another at 12. He seems to do them more frequently than some of the other OB's.
