B6 effectiveness ?

Hi All - excited to start trying B6. my doc suggested 50mg, twice a day, so i started that last night. how long did it take for those who have tried it, to feel an effect? if it worked? :) Thanks! Risa

  • I'm assuming you're doing it to fend off nausea, right?

I took it throughout my pregnancy with #1 and very rarely had any nausea. I'm taking it this time (100mg, once a day) and I've had a little more nausea but haven't thrown up - yet. I can't say for sure if it's the B6 or if I'm just lucky.

    It can't hurt!

  • yes, for nausea. just wondering how soon after taking it, does it take the edge off the queezies.
  • I have been taking 50 mg at night and didn't have any nausea until today.  I am going to increase to a 50 mg morning dosage as well starting tomorrow.  Hopefully it will do the trick.  Be sure to take unisom with it.  Something about the combination makes it more effective.

  • i only took 50mg once a day with DD and it worked like a charm.  i couldn't get it to work at all with this one...was sick a lot more with #2 than #1.  good luck!

  • I've been taking 25mg 3x a day and 20mg via my prenatal at night.  It took me about 2 days to notice a difference.  I was having pretty bad nausea (no vomiting) and now, while I don't feel great, I feel much better.  Though I still feel like I'm on a tightrope and at any moment could go falling back to the nausea.
