Cloth Diapering

Stupid wool care question

When my longies get pills on them, is it okay to pull them off by hand?  I know this is probably the stupidest question in the world, but I didn't know if that somehow damages the wool after time.  I don't have a sweater shaver or anything and wasn't sure if it was an absolute necessity when using wool, kind of like how a diaper sprayer isn't a true necessity when CDing (well, at least to me).  Just wanted to make sure there wasn't a "correct" way to get rid of pill.  Thanks!

Re: Stupid wool care question

  • Shannon from woolly bottoms posted the best tip on fb awhile ago.  Pumic stone.  She said that's what they use to 'shave' all of their wool before shipping.  The nice thing is they last forever and you can get them at a place like Target.  And you can use them on yourself after you're done with wool! :)

  • Awesome!  Thanks for the tip!

  • Beware they make a bit of a mess though.  I have both and much prefer the convenience of my $15 sweater shaver.
