Preemies

Good baby walker?

My DD Kate was IUGR, and she is pretty tiny still.  If you have a preemie on the smaller side, and purchased a baby walker (w/wheels), which one do you recommend?

I have exersaucers, but my Help me Grow gal recommended a walker.  TIA!

  • Walkers are dangerous and not recommend by the AAP. I'm surprised she recommended it.

  • Yes, she (Help me Grow) recommended it.

just curious, if you don't have stairs, how can they be dangerous?

  • I've heard that the position is bad for babies hips and can actually hinder growth and progress.

I actually looked at the seat today, before I read your post.  were the legs holes are located, it is not a natural position for a baby to be walking.  I compared it to my Exersaucers....and was concerned about this.   I'm glad you posted this.  I think I will not use this walker.

They give babies access to things they normally wouldn't be able to get to and perhaps things that haven't been totally baby proofed yet.  It's not just the stairs thing.
