I just fed R his dinner and gave him a bath. I could tell he was tired (fussy, rubbing his eyes, etc). Normally we would hold him while he takes an evening nap. Then we bring him upstairs with us for bed.
But tonight, I put him in his crib. We'll see how this goes....it's worth a shot right? We really don't want to be bed sharing but the boy loves to snuggle.
Re: Trying something new
Wife you've kind of been my inspiration to do this. Your thoughts on baby bedtime really make me want to get him in a routine. He never stays up late, but he doesn't go to bed early.
I'm thinking we'll have a rough few nights ahead of us...but hopefully it works out!
We did this several weeks ago and I'm not going to lie it sucked. Big time.
But, after a few nights Kate realized she would be sleeping in her crib and that I would be there the second she fussed to comfort her.
She is now a crib sleeper. I'm still up several times a night (she does great from 6:30 - 11 so when I am awake) but I think it was important to make the switch.
Good luck!
My DH lives in some fantasy world and thinks he will magically sleep in his crib (and through the night). Not going to happen!
Ooh I'm excited to see how it goes for you guys! I'm not brave enough to try the crib yet (especially with him still being sick). But I must say the earlier bedtime/lack of evening nap has really been working for us *knock on wood*. And wife, you were our inspiration for this too!
It's hard to say if his long(er) naps in the day are due to the earlier bed time or due to his cold, but either way he seems a lot happier!
The sleep doula says it takes 3 nights to see major changes when you try something new like this. So hold out hope!
