Dilation/effacement ?

So, I had my first internal exam yesterday.  I am 2 cm dilated and 80% effaced.  My doctor didn't seem concerned, especially since the baby is a girl (lungs should be developed already).  She said our goal is to keep her in for 2 more weeks though.  Anyone else last for a long period of time with this kind of progress?

At my 37 weeks with my son I was 3cm dilated and 90% effaced. I had to be inducted at 41 weeks with him... withmy DD at my 37 week appt I was 1cm dilated and 50% effaced. I went into labor on my own at exactly 39 weeks.

I was closed the entire time for both of my pregnancies until the very end, but I know of several women who walk around 2, 3, or even more cm dilated and carry to term.  It can be done!!  Good luck to you!

Yep. I was 2cm 80% effaced at 34 weeks. I delivered at 39 wks.

I was 2-3 cm and 50% effaced at 34 weeks with DD and made it to 37 weeks and 2 days.  With DS, I was 3 cm dilated and 90% effaced at 32 weeks and also made it to 37 weeks and 2 days. Try to take it easy and keep that baby cooking for 2 more weeks.

With DS1, I was 3 1/2-4 cm dilated for three weeks, then 4 1/2 for another week.  With DS2, I was 4 cm dilated at my 35th week appt.  I was induced at 36 weeks because I was 5 1/2, but I'm not convinced that he would have been born that early if they hadn't induced me.

Yep... I was 3 cm, 90% effaced at 37 weeks with DD#1 and was induced at 40w6d. 

Today I was 2-3 cm and 70% effaced.  She stripped my membranes and offered to have me come in again on Tuesday... so it sounds like I won't be having this little girl any time soon!
