Well, it was dissappointing to hear the news last week but I had prepared myself for it seeing there is only roughly a 20% chance. The good news is that I told my nurse we don't want to do mulitple IUI's because we have an insurance cap, she said we should move on right to IVF (not what the doctor told us at initial consult) so that is what we are doing. I previously tentatively schedule vaca to Aruba end of March, since this will be our one shot deal under insurance I decided it was best to take that needed break and then begin the cycle after that. Good Luck to All!

Re: IUI #1=BFN onto IVF
Sorry about the IUI. I don't have too much hope for mine working either. I was told only a 6-10% chance. I'm glad to hear you can move up to the "big guns" next time. I don't want to do a lot of IUI's either (I don't have a cap so I will try injectibles first). I am very jealous of your trip! I told DH last night that I want to plan a vacation so I had something to focus on/look forward to, how I can't just sit around and not make any plans, just because I "might" get pregnant (since it may not happen.).

Exactly! I orginially thought if fert treatments interfered we would re-book trip (I actually haven't even gotten the hotel yet). But now I am realizing I need a break away from this-it's been a long journey so far, why rush especially since yes, we are going for the "big guns" as you say and I want to be fully relaxed and ready for that.
I was working down N. Attleboro last week and of course I lived in Allston/Brighton during college. I'm in Arlington now. Good luck with your IUI, yeah I can't beleive how small the success rate is. I told my husband our clinic tracks my age group as having 40% success rate with IVF, he's a numbers guy and still doesn't like those odds. But we are eternally optimistic!
