I'm so over RSV!

Waiting to take Coop back to the doctor for the 6th time in 2 1/2 weeks.  He has basically been up since 2 a.m. wheezing and hacking, the breathing treatments had been helping, but now they aren't even touching it!  He can't sleep for more than 20 minutes without waking up crying.  He is so fussy and clingy, I wish I could do something, anything, to help him feel better.  My poor sitter has been here for 3 hours trying to help, and I've maybe been able to get an hour worth of stuff done.

On top of all that, he is also only nursing about 1/2 as much as normal.  This RSV stuff totally sucks!

To add to this mess, I'm trying to not fall any farther behind at work, and I'm suppose to have 2 full days of training tomorrow and Thursday.  How in the world am I going to leave my sick child at home for this?  I swear I'm ready to quit, take FMLA...anything so I can just take care of my little man.

*Oh and we saw ENT yesterday to address his 4 ear infections in 6 weeks.... they can't do tubes until April 4th because of the RSV.  I seriously don't know if my little guy can handle this anymore (and his mama is exhausted!)

OK, done with my pity party....thanks for reading Embarrassed

Completely agree. With everything going on this sounds like a wonderful option. It sounds like you need to be napping (when possible) rather than working.

Good luck to your LO, and to you. Just remember, it WILL get better.

  • wow, hun, that's all really tough. you are handling it so well though. i hope your little one feels better soon!

  • *I haven't been following your story, so forgive me if this has been talked about/tried.*

Have you taken him to a chiropractor?

  • My DH won't agree to the chiropractor Sad  He very rarely vetos any of my parenting decisions so I'm trying to respect his decision.  However, now that we have 6 weeks we HAVE to wait I might get him to reconsider.  My only hesitation is I don't any chiropractors in my area that specialize in children, and I'm hesistant to take him to just anyone.

We went back to doc for the RSV today, can I just say my pedi rocks!  Apparantly the cold air is just what Coop needed b/c by the time we got to the office he sounded 100 times better.  My pedi assured me this is common for RSV...they get you all worried one second and just as your ready to rush them into the ER, they clear up.  He told me to bring Coop in everyday in if that's what we needed to do to make sure it didn't get worse.  He just totally made me feel better about bringing him in like crazy for this mess.  They upped his breathing treatments some and we scheduled us to come back in Friday.  Coop is a touch dehydrated (only one wet diaper today), so prayers I can get my little guy to breath normally and nurse tonight.  Oh and he still has fluid on his ears.

I'm gong to attempt training tomorrow and my DH is going to take a 1/2 day for the next 2 days (he can't take off since he just got back from a whole week off).  However, I may be posting about quitting my job if my little man gets bad again tomorrowStick out tongue
