Bad Dream?!?!?!

I dont know if this is possible....My Lo was taking a good 1 hr nap this late morning, so I decided to lay down as well and catch some Zzz's.  Well, my LO awoke straight out of sleep and started screaming.  I went into his room and picked him up and walked around with him for a bit...he kept crying/screaming.  I finlly put him in a cradle hold and he looked up at me and stopped crying and just started to whine a bit and then closed his eyes and went back to sleep.  Normally, when he wakes up out of sleep he will either babble to himself or whine to let me know to come and get him...not just start crying/screaming.

Has anyone else have this happen before?!  I dont know if bad dreams are possible at this age?  He cried for a good 7-8 mins before he calmed down and went back to sleep.

Re: Bad Dream?!?!?!

  • Oh, about 20 mins later my LO woke up and was all smiles, talking, and playful.  This event just through me off a bit...

  • that happened at 5AM this morning! IT's happened before, so I didn't jump right out of bed. They do have bad dreams and will wake up screaming. They have good dreams too though, have you heard you LO laugh while sleeping or smile? When DD wakes up crying I will wait 1 or two minutes, if she doesn't calm down by then I go in and pick her up. that normally does the trick. Amazing how their little minds work, huh?

  • G has been doing this lately, too. I think it's probably night terrors of some sort. I've found that if I wake him up right when he starts screaming (I blow in his face or use a diaper wipe around his neck to wake him), he calms down a lot faster...
