Cloth Diapering

New to CD with ?

Hello!  I'm a little late to the party, but I figure better late than never.  I have a 3 month old and an almost 21 month old.  We are spending a small fortune in diapers, and I've been wanting to switch for a while, but I had trouble convincing DH who has now told me that he doesn't care either way.  Is it too late to switch over my older one?  Hopefully we will have one more LO at some point, so I think the diapers will be used by at least one more child.  How many diapers do you need for two at one time?  Do you recommend pocket diapers or AIO's, and if so, is it ok to have several of each brand, or would you go for all of the same?  Do you feel that a toilet sprayer is necessary?  Sorry for all of the questions!  Thanks in advance!

  • Hi and welcome.

The FAQs at the top of the board should answer a lot of your questions.

  • hey! We are late to the game too! I wanted to CD with dd1, but we never had a place with a washer dryer. Now that we do I am getting into it with dd2. dd2 is 7 months, but I figured the same ,better late than never. Why is it that husbands put up a stink and ruin the whole plan? lol. I actually found this blog helpful with alot of my questions, especailly regarding cleaning etc. hope it helps!

  • You can do CD for both kids, and better yet, u can use the same diapers for both! They have Cd that are one size and they adjust to the baby from about 10-35pounds. I like pockets best. They do requirer stuffing an insert in them but they dry quicker then AIOs. I would buy a few of each brand and see what u like best. FB and BG are the most popular brands so maybe start there. You can buy used CD or new. U need a toilet sprayer or some type of throw away insert, or u can drunk in the toilet but no one likes that! Also check out the FAQs at the top of the board it has great info.

  • My sister still uses cloth diapers with her 4-year old boy that still wets at night. As much as I don't wish that on you, it goes to show that it's definitely not too late!
