Is this normal?

DS is a very vocal 5 months old. Making all kinds of noises and coos.  In the last couple of days he's started doing the strangest thing, he will open and close his mouth over and over like he would if he was babbling, but not making any noise, not mouthing anything, just looking at something random and open, close, open, close, etc.

Do other babies do this?

Sometimes W does that, and sometimes he just opens his mouth and breathes kinda heavy at stuff. I call him my Darth Vader baby when he does that.
